Plans for the new community café are progressing and there are also plans in place for the installation of a beautiful sensory garden around the café area. This is an exciting addition to the park and will allow the community to enjoy the scent of the specially chosen plants, to feel textures and experience sounds that will be built in to the garden area.
In addition, there are plans in progress to install bat boxes in the park, with online facilities, allowing locals to view the activities of the bats. The bat walk, held last year, proved to be a hit with those who attended, and we are sure that many families and individuals will enjoy watching the activities of these intriguing flying mammals.
We will greatly welcome any volunteers happy to assist with these two projects and particularly any specialists in these fields who would be able to provide educated advice.
A SPECIAL APPEAL: Could the lady who attended the recent Friends’ meeting, and kindly offered her design services, please contact us, as her contact details have gone astray. Thank you.

Sunday 17th March: Once again we will be hosting Breakfast Not in Bed at 10.00am in the park. Meet by the Friends’ hut next to the bowling green. After a session of litter picking and general tidying in the park, all volunteers are welcome to enjoy a free breakfast, along with the opportunity of meeting with other like-minded local people, who enjoy the benefits of joining together to improve our local park facility and to enjoy some time outdoors.
Saturday 23rd March: From 8.30pm The Blues Measures, a versatile group, who will be familiar to those who attended the band event in the park last year, will be performing at the Memorial Hall. Amazingly, courtesy of the Friends Group, this is a free event, but entry is strictly by ticket only. Members of the Group and volunteers will be given priority.
Friday 12th April: Though there is no barn in the park, and it may be that we can’t all dance, we are holding a barn dance at the Memorial Hall. This is guaranteed to be a fun event, with a professional overseeing the proceedings. For the Barn Dance and a Burger the cost per person is just #12.00.
Wednesday 17th April: A fun event for children and adults alike. From 2.00pm we will be holding an Easter egg hunt in the park.
For this event we will need as many volunteers as possible, to help clean up the park before the Easter egg hunt takes place, and to assist on the day. Any time that you can spare will be greatly appreciated.
Volunteers are not paid because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.
